PARIS 2024 OLYMPICS TO SERVE 60% VEGETARIAN MEALS
The 2024 Summer Olympics will kick off in just a few days in Paris, France. This is one of the most anticipated sporting events, attracting athletes and visitors from all over the world.
In addition to the exciting news about the Olympics, another interesting side note is that 60% of the food at the Paris Olympics will be vegetarian!
In line with the green message, the organizers of the 2024 Olympics have introduced a menu with nutritious dishes that help reduce carbon emissions. There will be around 5000 different dishes served including grilled eggplant, vegetarian shawarma wraps, vegetarian sausages, beet falafel, quinoa grains and many other vegan dishes… Notably, 80% of the ingredients are of French origin, demonstrating the care and attention to the health of athletes and visitors, while affirming the host country’s commitment to environmental protection.
It is known that the biggest challenge facing the Paris city authorities before the 2024 Olympics is to reduce emissions as the city is expected to welcome 15.3 million visitors.
Tony Estanguet, president of Paris 2024 Olympics, shared, “Our responsibility in this event is to help people become more aware that our common task now is to change our habits to reduce carbon emissions. Coming to this event, athletes and spectators may be surprised that a vegan dish can be so delicious”.
Hopefully, this unprecedented initiative by the organizers of the Paris 2024 Olympics will inspire other events and spread the message of working together for a better world to everyone.
